About the role
This position is responsible for providing all basic legal services required as part of the in-house legal team although the primary focus is supporting the Land, Environmental, Gas Storage, and Contracts Departments. This position provides professional legal services, representation, guidance, and advice, performs legal research, drafts documents and pleadings. Responsibilities also include representing company in judicial or administrative proceedings and/or managing outside counsel representing company in such proceedings.

- Works under supervision of a more experienced attorney.
- Performs a wide spectrum of tasks that range in complexity.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Juris Doctor or equivalent degree from certified law school.
- License to practice law in one state (KY, MO, KS or OK) and/or the ability to obtain a limited license in Kentucky within 6 months of hire.
- Entry level legal experience. (Will consider candidates with more experience).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals at all levels and areas within the organization.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Ability to work comfortably in both corporate and field settings.
- Ability to research, design and deliver effective presentations.
- Ability to explain and teach legal concepts in layperson’s terms.
- Ability to appropriately handle confidential data.
- Ability to review and draft various legal documents.
- Ability to work independently.
Qualifications
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Word and Outlook, basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
