About the role
Responsible for maintaining the project cost accounting system by ensuring all commitments, change orders, progress billings, and forecasts are entered timely and accurately.
Responsibilities
- Manage the financial aspects of projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking.
- Conduct month-end close processes for project-related accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare variance analysis reports for project budgets, identifying and explaining discrepancies.
- Monitor project billing schedules and revenue recognition, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
- Oversee detailed balance sheet reconciliations for project accounts and ensure alignment with general ledger entries.
- Collaborate with project managers to review financial performance and provide insights into cost optimization.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports for stakeholders, summarizing key project metrics and results.
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance project accounting accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable accounting regulations.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations related to project accounts.
- Contribute to special projects and ad-hoc reporting as required by management.
Qualifications
- A four-year degree is preferred, or equivalent work experience; and at least 5 years of related experience.
- Understands accounting principles (e.g., journal entries, general ledger, accrual).
- Working knowledge of ERP systems, Oracle preferred.
- Deadline-oriented, self-starter, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient with MS Excel and MS Office.
- Ability to work independently with some oversight, and in a team environment.
- Good work ethic and integrity; dependable, adaptable, cooperative, and motivated to take on new responsibilities.
