About the role
Lead a team of skilled accountants to ensure the appropriate recording and reporting of transactions for a portfolio of hospital facilities, and engage in other corporate financial analyses as needed. The role requires a strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and financial statement concepts and analysis. Reports to the VP of Finance.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of skilled accountants, providing guidance and mentorship.
- Maintain and review general ledger activity and reporting completed by the accounting staff for a portfolio of hospital facilities, while applying GAAP.
- Understand and review journal entries entered into the Wellsky ERP system by staff, and enter manual journal entries as needed.
- Review profit and loss trend reports and various reporting packages distributed to administrators of assigned facilities.
- Oversee the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.
- Ensure the proper collection and recording of statistical data for administrative, regulatory, or survey purposes, and assist in their completion as required.
- Make recommendations related to systems, workflow, efficiencies, or other improvements within the accounting department, and take ownership of implementation.
- Review all staff work product to ensure completeness, accuracy, and reasonableness; assist in research and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist the VP of Finance with the accounting close process and in gathering information for auditors.
- Adhere to the organization’s policies, procedures, and practices.
- Collaborate with other accounting managers to achieve overall department and business goals, and provide assistance as needed.
- Handle special projects and corporate assignments as needed.
- Maintain the highest level of customer service via courtesy, compassion, and positive communication.
- Promote the mission and vision of PAM Health within the work environment and the community.
- Respect dignity and confidentiality by adhering to all applicable policies and procedures.
- Work in a manner that promotes safety, wear appropriate clothing, and participate in OSHA-required training.
- Follow universal precautions as appropriate for the position and comply with Employee Health requirements.
- Report unsafe practices to management and know your role in case of an emergency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience.
- CPA is a plus.
- 7-10 years of accounting-related experience, with a public accounting background preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role.
