Corporate Accounting Leader
Our Global Corporate Accounting team manages and drives the financial close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements for cross-functional teams including SEC reporting, finance, FP&A, Revenue Ops, and more. We partner with groups such as Financial Reporting, Tax, Treasury, IT, Sales Ops, Engineering, and Global Workplace Services, operating globally in lockstep with our offshore Corporate Accounting shared services team to enhance and scale processes. The team is responsible for accounting, adoption of new standards, and operationalizing areas including payroll, benefits, commissions, leases, and capitalized software in accordance with US GAAP.
About the role
We are seeking a seasoned Corporate Accounting Leader to lead our Corporate Accounting team. This leader will shape the future state accounting function roadmap, automation strategy, and how AI reshapes the close as the company scales. You will bring best practices and proven experience scaling accounting processes, mentor the team, and leverage AI to drive efficiencies while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements such as SOX. This role requires cross-functional collaboration to solve complex problems and foster a culture of transparency and accountability. Your influence will extend deep into the broader finance organization and beyond. This is an in-office hybrid role based at our HQ in Palo Alto, reporting to the Senior Director, Assistant Controller.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a plan to scale the global accounting close process while incorporating business changes, with demonstrated use of AI and automation.
- Prepare and/or review accounting memos for ambiguous situations, arriving at appropriate conclusions under US GAAP.
- Lead and mentor a team of corporate accounting professionals, as well as an offshore shared services team and relevant stakeholders.
- Drive positive change across cross-functional organizations, enhancing collaboration and process improvements.
- Ensure work product complies with US GAAP, PCAOB, and SOX requirements, delivering high-quality and timely outputs to external and internal auditors.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification is required.
- 12+ years of relevant experience, ideally with a mix of Big 4 public accounting and high-growth public software/technology company experience, including Corporate Accounting and other CAO functions.
- Deep understanding of US GAAP; experience reducing close timelines without sacrificing accuracy; familiarity with SOX controls and Big 4 external audit requirements.
- Extensive experience with accounting tools (e.g., Netsuite, Xactly, LeaseQuery, Coupa) and Excel/Google Sheets; experience with AI tools.
- Vision for an efficient Corporate Accounting function at scale in a high-growth environment, with the ability to drive change.
- Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with strong communication skills and a proven track record of managing up and down.
Schedule
3 days a week in-office per Rubrik’s in-office requirements.
Pay
US Pay Range: $217,800—$250,000 USD. The role is also eligible for bonus potential, equity, and benefits. The range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries based on U.S. location. Within the range, the salary offered will be determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
