About the Role

We are seeking a Copy Editor for clinical and continuing medical education (CME) content to ensure all editorial print and online materials meet the highest standards of accuracy, clarity, and quality. This role requires active, fluent use of AI as a core part of the editing workflow to enhance speed, consistency, and error detection across high-volume production schedules.

Responsibilities

• Copyedit electronic and print projects for clinical, peer-reviewed publications and CME/CE manuscripts across formats including MS Word, PDF, PowerPoint, Excel, hard copy, video transcripts, e-books, web pages, and creative collateral.
• Integrate AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Gemini) directly into your editing workflow to improve consistency, catch errors, and increase efficiency.
• Proofread and correct electronic files, page proofs, and final artwork for grammar, spelling, and style, ensuring error-free materials before publication.
• Identify inconsistencies, improve unclear or awkward language, and strengthen headlines and display type while adhering to CME/CE, Medical, and Legal Review guidelines.
• Check and apply proofing and design changes using Adobe Acrobat Pro and Adobe InCopy.
• Ensure compliance with corporate, product branding, legal, and Pharmaceutical Promotion Compliance guidelines across all deliverables.
• Maintain strict adherence to production deadlines across multiple concurrent editorial projects.
• Collaborate with editorial, events, marketing, and promotional teams to uphold shared quality standards.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of editing and fact-checking experience, preferably in medical or scientific publishing.
• Demonstrated, active use of AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Gemini) in your editing process, including prompt development and reusable queries to improve accuracy and throughput.
• Strong command of AMA Manual of Style (11th Edition) and AP Stylebook, with the ability to balance multiple style frameworks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (including Track Changes); Adobe Acrobat Pro experience preferred.
• Familiarity with Adobe InCopy, content management systems, web publishing tools, design principles, typography, and commercial printing/prepress norms.
• Proven ability to meet hard deadlines while managing multiple concurrent deliverables without sacrificing quality.
• Strong collaborative skills and clear communication to support cross-departmental teamwork.
• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university required; advanced degree in a scientific field, BELS certification, or CSE certification preferred.

AI Capability Expectation

Candidates should demonstrate how they currently use AI in their editing workflow, including:

• Specific tools in active use and concrete examples of their application to copyediting, proofreading, fact-checking, or style consistency.
• Prompts, queries, or workflows developed to improve editing accuracy and efficiency.
• Methods for validating AI-assisted edits against source documents and style guides.
• Bonus: Examples of AI-enhanced workflows that improved throughput, consistency, or error rates in clinical or CME content.

Pay

Compensation range: $55,000 to $60,000 per year, depending on qualifications. Eligible for annual company bonus program or commission incentive based on role.
