Coordinator, Wildland Fire Technology (Full-Time, Categorically Funded) Reedley College

Reedley College seeks a Coordinator, Wildland Fire Technology to join the college's team. The position is full-time and contingent upon funding.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the integrity of National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) coursework and standards as approved by local accreditation units
- Teach courses in Wildland Fire and Forestry, as assigned
- Assist with general supervision and coordination of fire technology programs
- Assist in the development of instructional schedule, student recruitment and outreach
- Initiate and reconcile the purchase of supplies and equipment
- Manage maintenance schedule of apparatus and equipment
- Assist in the development of the annual budget
- Assist with the recruitment, screening, interviewing, and evaluating of faculty applicants
- Conduct oversight of administrative requirements of adjunct faculty and trainers
- Provide input to ensure an excellent ongoing level of performance as well as rigorous evaluation and consistent quality of training and standards
- Assist in the advising and registration of students
- Assist in the development and improvement of curriculum and courses
- Create, provide, and support innovative programs, grants and initiatives, while also maintaining regulatory compliance
- Serve on and attend department, college, and district committees as needed
- Participate in program review, including student learning outcome development and assessment to improve student learning
- Teach assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evening and/or weekends, on-line or off-campus and large group instruction classes as needed

Requirements
- All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices.
- Any master’s degree level discipline in which learning assistance or tutoring is provided at the college where the coordinator is employed; or a master’s degree in education, educational psychology, or instructional psychology, or other master’s degree with emphasis in adult learning theory; or a valid California Community College Credential; or the equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience and skill incorporating elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility
- Recent experience working with African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students in the classroom and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion of these groups in higher education shape patterns of participation and outcomes
- Willingness to examine and remediate one’s instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students
- Related work and professional experience
- Experience working with students of various cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, including disabled students
- Demonstrated ability to work with computers, and other technologies, which are utilized in providing high-quality instruction and support to students
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff
- Five (5) years full-time paid professional experience in grant and project coordination at the community college level related to CTE program curriculum development, advisory committee facilitation, professional development and student success
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the NWCG Standards for Coursework Delivery PMS 901-1
- Understand long-term and strategic planning
- Familiarity with national and professional fire service standards
- Understanding of statewide needs regarding Wildland Fire and Fuels management training
- Knowledgeable in basic Wildland Firefighter coursework required of the NWCG and Cal Fire
- Demonstrated ability to work with industry partners and understanding of critical hiring needs of the wildland fire service, and alignment with statewide training program and practices
- Demonstrated extensive interpersonal communications skills
- Experience working with State and Federal natural resources, fire and forest agencies
- Possess substantial educational organization experience, and knowledge of community college system policies and procedures
- Significant experience working in a fast-paced team environment
- Experience working with advisory committees on local or statewide level
- Basic understanding of the curriculum process, noncredit curriculum and workforce development in the community college system
- Knowledge of the community college and its mission and goals
Conditions of Employment
- 178 duty days per year contingent upon funding.
Salary and Benefits
Starting annual salary is $71,054 – $106,970 based on education and experience. Duty days will be prorated based upon start of assignment. An annual doctoral stipend of $2,419 is available. In addition, the District offers an attractive fringe benefit package including medical, dental, and vision coverage for the employee and dependents, and life insurance. Employees are also members of the California State Teacher’s Retirement System (CalSTRS).
Selection Procedure
Applications will be screened by Human Resources for completeness and to determine which applicants meet the minimum qualifications as stated in the job announcement. Based on this rating, a small number of applicants will be selected as the “recommended candidates”. These candidates will be forwarded to the Vice President and College President for final interviews.
