About the role

Feeding Tampa Bay serves ten counties in West Central Florida and is a leader in hunger relief across the region. The Coordinator, Volunteer Engagement will connect and convene volunteers to support the organization’s mission of feeding people in need and mobilizing the community to eliminate hunger.

Schedule

  • Core hours: Mondays 9:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m., Tuesday–Friday 9:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
  • Flexibility required to support evening events, all-hands-on-deck moments, and disaster relief efforts as they arise.

Pay

$20.00 per hour, nonexempt.

Responsibilities

  • Onsite/Volunteer Lounge: Conduct volunteer check-ins and orientations; ensure safety compliance (closed-toe shoes, waivers); maintain lounge cleanliness; coordinate with staff Volunteer Leads for timely shift assignments; answer volunteer questions with a positive and grateful attitude.
  • Volunteer Communication (60%): Manage volunteer inbox and phone calls with a 24–48 hour response time; communicate professionally with diverse volunteer groups (individuals, corporate, court-mandated) across phone, email, and in person.
  • Data Upkeep (10%): Track daily volunteer attendance; record attendance in HandsOn Connect within 24 hours; send daily attendance reports.
  • Recruiting/Reports (10%): Confirm weekly groups and update group sizes; conduct outreach for low-attendance shifts via calls and emails; monitor and prospect volunteers.
  • Miscellaneous (20%): Oversee Court Ordered Volunteer program (monitor charges, verify hours); support Distribution & Experience teams; represent the organization at community events.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite preferred.
  • Experience and comfort with public speaking to small and large groups.
  • Innovative self-starter and problem solver with a bias toward action.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with high professionalism.
  • Experience managing volunteers and data entry.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong attention to detail and accuracy while meeting deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Exercise good judgment and discretion with strong ethical character; capable of handling confidential information.
  • Committed to the organizational mission of ending hunger.
  • Current FTB employees must be in good standing.
  • Willing to actively participate in mission-driven programs, such as food distribution initiatives and disaster relief operations as needed.
