Description

The Social Media Coordinator develops and leads the college’s social media strategy to support institutional goals and strengthen the college’s brand and reputation. This role is responsible for content creation, social engagement, and storytelling across platforms. The Social Media Coordinator plays a hands-on role in writing, photographing, filming, and producing content that elevates the student and alumni experience while advancing the college's mission.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements a content strategy for the college’s primary social media channels (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, X/Twitter).
  • Maintains the digital photo library by ingesting, organizing, and keywording images for long-term access and use.
  • Works closely with departments, student organizations, and external partners to identify stories and promotional opportunities.
  • Serves as a liaison between the marketing team and campus units seeking social media support.
  • Captures and edits high-quality photos and video footage to use across digital platforms.
  • Ensures content aligns with brand and accessibility standards.
  • Serves as the voice of the college on social media, responding to comments and messages in a timely and authentic manner.
  • Cultivates an engaging online community through interactive posts and campaigns.
  • Monitors trends and analytics to optimize engagement and reach.
  • Generates original content including written posts, graphics, videos, and photo stories.
  • Plans and executes real-time coverage of campus events, student life, and special announcements.
  • Interviews students, alumni, and staff to write and share their stories and testimonials.
  • Creates short-form videos optimized for social media.
  • Tracks content calendar, approvals, and asset usage.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience managing social media accounts for an organization required.
  • Strong writing, editing, photography, and video production skills required.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms, scheduling tools, and Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop, Premiere Pro, or Lightroom) required.
  • Familiarity with content analytics and reporting tools required.
  • Experience working in higher education or a mission-driven organization is preferred.

Qualifications

  • May be eligible for remote work up to two days per week.

Skills

  • Strong writing, editing, photography, and video production skills.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms, scheduling tools, and Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop, Premiere Pro, or Lightroom).
  • Familiarity with content analytics and reporting tools.
