About the role
Ensure exceptional care and compliance across all agency programs by providing expert clinical training (CPR, AMAP, basic medical support) to Direct Support Professionals and agency staff. In this role, the Nurse Coordinator maintains quality assurance standards, enforces nursing policies, and fosters cross-departmental collaboration between nursing and program teams.

Responsibilities
- Provide Medication Administration Training per OPWDD curriculum to new staff.
- Teach Nursing Triage during both the new employee orientation and recertification medication classes.
- Assist in tracking, documentation, and completion of medication certification records for AMAP employees.
- Teach Maintaining Health that provides an overview of:
- Clinical Care & Monitoring: Chronic/acute illness management (diabetes, seizures), vital signs, catheters, MIPS, and body check documentation.
- Hygiene & Personal Care: Incontinence, menses, oral health, targeted cleaning, skin breakdown prevention, Safe Patient Handling, informed consent, and aging considerations.
- Develop or update training materials as necessary.
- Collaborate with the Strategic Director of Organizational Development on new employee training.
Requirements
- Current NYS Registered Nurse license.
- Experience in quality assurance, quality improvement, and regulatory readiness activities.
- A valid NYS license and clean driving record.
Qualifications
- BA/BS in nursing preferred.
- 3+ years of training experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
