About the role

An active and deep faith with full participation in the communal worship and life of the Church.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing both fall faith formation and the summer intensive program.
  • Adhere to the diocesan guidelines as per the hours of the programs.
  • Plan the faith formation calendar including intergenerational events in conjunction with the parish master calendar.
  • Plan events to guide families in the required six (6) events to maintain summer intensive status.
  • Send out correspondence regarding intergenerational events and track attendance.
  • Schedule confessions twice a year for traditional students in conjunction with the priests and the summer program as well as the summer program.
  • Organize and manage files and confidential records, contact lists and sacramental registers.
  • Anticipate and respond to the day-to-day needs of the faith formation program and be aware of the needs of the catechists/aides.
  • Prepare sacramental prep agenda for First Penance, First Eucharist and Confirmation.
  • Hold sacramental prep meetings with parents and children (initial).
  • Hold confirmation prep sessions monthly with 6th and 7th grade students; hold sacramental prep sessions for parents/children monthly for First Penance and First Eucharist.
  • Plan retreats for each sacrament and recruit helpers.
  • Provide and organize gifts for each sacrament as well as certificates, robes and name ribbons.
  • Recruit catechists/aides for the summer and fall faith formation program.
  • Provide all new catechists and aides of age with fingerprinting and Safe Environment materials to comply with diocesan guidelines.
  • Prepare the mailing for the new faith formation program yearly with introduction letter and necessary forms.
  • Schedule meetings with catechists as needed.
  • Be able to correspond with parents, catechists, aides and children.
  • Present Empowering to God’s Children (2 lessons) for both summer intensive and fall faith formation.
