About the role

As a member of the Cookie Crew at our Boise, ID bakery located at 900 W Royal Blvd, Space 2, Boise, ID 83706, you are the ultimate Insomniac. You’ll serve as the point person at the front of the store interacting with customers and bake all of our warm, delicious cookies. This role combines customer service, baking, and teamwork in a fun, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Promptly greet guests entering the store and take their orders according to procedure
• Help customers understand menu items, answer clarifying questions, and repeat orders for accuracy
• Give each customer a warm experience with a smile in person and over the phone
• Bake our delicious cookies to perfection and scoop ice cream
• Ensure fast, warm, and correct delivery orders are packaged and sent out
• Handle cash and payments accurately with no shortages or overages
• Clean, sanitize, and maintain the bakery
• Welcome every guest with genuine hospitality and make every interaction memorable
• Prepare, bake, and package warm cookies, brownies, ice cream, and other treats to Insomnia’s quality standards
• Accurately prepare in-store, pickup, delivery, and online orders
• Operate the register and process guest transactions
• Keep the bakery clean, stocked, organized, and food-safe throughout every shift
• Jump in wherever your team needs you, whether restocking supplies, helping a teammate, or keeping the line moving
• Resolve guest concerns with empathy and urgency, partnering with your Shift Leader when needed
• Deliver the kind of experience that turns first-time guests into lifelong Insomniacs

Requirements

• At least 6 months of experience in a customer service-focused role (preferred)
• Personable, genuine, outgoing demeanor
• Customer service-focused with a willingness to exceed guest expectations
• Great communication, organizational, and math skills
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lb boxes of product
• Must be 18 years or older
• Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays
• Legally eligible to work in the United States
• Ability to obtain any required food safety certifications applicable to the location
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation

Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours per shift)
• Frequently reach, bend, stoop, twist, kneel, and lift
• Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 pounds regularly
• Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds with assistance
• Use hands and fingers to handle bakery equipment, food products, and a point-of-sale system
• Work in environments with varying temperatures, including around ovens, freezers, and refrigeration units
• Safely operate kitchen equipment in accordance with company procedures
• Read order screens, recipes, and safety information
• Communicate effectively with guests and team members in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment

This position works in a fast-paced bakery environment that includes frequent interaction with guests, exposure to heat from ovens, refrigerated storage areas, cleaning chemicals, and moderate noise levels. Evening, late-night, weekend, and holiday shifts are a regular part of the business.

Schedule

Our bakeries are busiest during evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Team Members should have availability during these peak business hours. Scheduling needs vary by location.
