Cooker Operator

About the role

This role is responsible for operating PLC-controlled machinery, monitoring pumps and grinders, and ensuring quality assurance within a production environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate the cooking process within selected parameters
• Monitor pumps and grinders to ensure quality assurance
• Document plant operations per GMP program
• Notify shift manager of any issues or maintenance problems
• Blow grease lines as required
• Clean up, including shoveling floors, hosing down floors and machinery, using wheelbarrows and PITs
• Attend all safety meetings
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications

• Manufacturing, industrial, or agricultural experience
• Prior experience in a rendering facility or production environment
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment
• Dependable and reliable; ability to work nights and/or weekends as needed

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

• Frequently exposed to high noise levels, strong odors, varying temperatures, and biohazardous conditions
• Requires prolonged sitting and movement throughout office/work locations
• Occasional use of computers and office equipment
• Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb or balance
• Must be able to communicate effectively and identify potential workplace hazards
• Requires the ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
