About the role

The Cooker Operator is responsible for operating PLC to control machinery, monitoring pumps and grinders to ensure quality assurance, and performing various operational and maintenance tasks within a rendering facility.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the cooking process within selected parameters
  • Document plant operations per the GMP program
  • Blow grease lines as required
  • Clean up, including shoveling floors, hosing down machinery, and using wheelbarrows and PITs
  • Notify shift manager of any issues or maintenance problems
  • Attend all safety meetings
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Ability to work nights and/or weekends as needed
  • Dependable and reliable
  • Works well with others in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Manufacturing, industrial, or agricultural experience
  • Prior experience in a rendering facility or production environment
  • High School diploma or GED

Schedule

Night shift – 5:00 PM to 5:30 AM

  • Constant exposure to biohazardous conditions
  • Constant exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals requiring attention to safety considerations
  • Constant exposure to electrical hazards and risk of electrical shock
  • Constant handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment
  • Occasional travel to offsite locations

Physical Demands

  • Constantly walk: Must be able to move about inside/outside the work location
  • Constantly use hands to finger, handle, or feel: Operates machinery and equipment
  • Constantly stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl: Must be able to position oneself for maintenance tasks
  • Constantly climb or balance: Must be able to ascend/descend ladders
  • Constantly talk, hear, taste, smell: Must effectively communicate and detect hazardous conditions
  • Frequently lift up to 25 pounds
