About the role

The Cook Supervisor supervises and monitors dietary department personnel, ensures adherence to policies and procedures, and contributes to performance evaluations of subordinates with the Dietary Manager. They supervise dietary aide work assignments and are responsible for the department when the Dietary Manager is unavailable.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and serves meals for residents according to dietary needs and orders.
• Works with the Dietary Manager to ensure resident needs are met.
• Assists with production planning, including forecasting needs and developing recipes.
• Assists with the purchase and storage of food and equipment.
• Ensures the dietary department produces aesthetically pleasing, quality meals within budgetary guidelines.
• Utilizes kitchen equipment such as steamers, blenders, slicers, food processors, grills, and ovens, including adaptive equipment for residents' special needs.
• Responds to residents’ requests on short notice.
• Helps the Dietary Manager plan and prepare for all facility special events.

Requirements

• ServSafe Manager certification (training available).
• Ability to unload and stock groceries on shelves of various heights and lift items up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English, perform simple math calculations, measure, and record data.
• Attention to detail, strong follow-through skills, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Ability to supervise and instruct others.
• Previous experience in a hospital or long-term care facility preferred.
• Demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
• Patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude toward residents and their support networks.
• Ability to communicate professionally with residents, staff, and family members.
