About the role
We are seeking a Cook Supervisor to lead and supervise dietary personnel, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures. This is a temporary, per diem position.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor dietary personnel, ensuring compliance with protocols and guidelines.
- Prepare and serve meals tailored to residents' dietary requirements, in coordination with the Dietary Manager.
- Contribute insights to production planning, including forecasting needs and recipe development.
- Assist in the procurement and proper storage of food and equipment.
- Ensure the dietary department consistently delivers visually appealing, high-quality meals within budget constraints.
- Proficiently operate various kitchen equipment and adaptive tools for residents' specialized needs.
- Respond promptly to residents' requests and needs, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness.
- Collaborate with the Dietary Manager in planning and executing facility-wide special events.
- Assume responsibility for the department in the absence of the manager.
- Oversee work assignments and contribute to performance evaluations.
Requirements
- Must hold Serv Safe Manager certification.
- Must be able to unload and stock groceries on shelves of various heights as well as lift items up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English, perform simple math calculations, measure, and record data.
- Attention to detail, good follow-through skills, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to supervise and instruct others.
- Previous experience in a hospital or long-term care facility preferred.
- Demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude toward residents and their support networks.
- Ability to communicate with residents, staff, and family members in a professional manner.
