About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Cook to join our team. This role involves preparing meals for residents and staff, following planned menus, and ensuring food is served timely and attractively.
Responsibilities
- Prepare food items for resident and staff meals, as well as special events, according to tested recipes and established guidelines.
- Plan cooking schedule to ensure food is ready to serve on time.
- Prepare desserts, pastries, breads, salads, and carve meats in required portions.
- Prepare food for special diets and take requests for extra servings of food or beverages.
- Serve food timely and attractively in proper utensils, ensuring it is either hot or cold as required.
- Prepare and cover trays for patients not coming to the dining room.
- Clear and clean tables in dining rooms when needed.
- Wash, rinse, and sanitize pots, pans, and service ware; assist with other cleaning tasks as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of stove, sinks, cabinets, tables, and equipment; keep the department clean at all times (sweeping, mopping, garbage removal, etc.).
- Utilize sanitary methods for handling, preparing, and serving food.
- Assist with other dietary requirements as assigned, including paperwork.
- In the absence of the Dietary Director, assume responsibility for the dietary department and staff.
- If inadequate staff is available, find replacements or work an assignment if replacements cannot be found.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must purchase and wear the required uniform.
- Ability to use equipment safely without jeopardizing self, others, or equipment.
- Ability to use supplies economically.
- Must attend in-service training and other staff meetings as required.
- Neat appearance and good personal hygiene.
- Must read, know, and follow personnel, department, and facility policies.
