The Willows at Red Oak Recovery, located in the rolling hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville, NC, is a trauma-informed clinical addiction treatment center for adult women. We provide a safe and welcoming environment where women can focus on recovery and begin a new chapter in their lives. Our kitchen staff prepares nutritious and culturally inspired dishes to support our clients' well-being.
About the role
We are seeking a PRN Cook to join our dynamic team. The right candidate will be personable, dependable, and comfortable working as part of a team. This position prepares approximately 10 meals per week (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) for 20–85 people. Our Food Services Department plays a vital role in our program, from welcoming clients with their first meal to accommodating dietary needs, offering holiday meals, and teaching cooking classes.
Responsibilities
- Support the daily flow of food service operations, including food prep, cleaning, and special projects from harvests
- Coordinate with staff to ensure meals accommodate client and staff dietary needs
- Improve kitchen efficiency and uphold safety and sanitation standards
- Teach hands-on cooking classes as needed
- Provide leadership and guidance to kitchen apprentices
Requirements
- Experience in food service or a related field
- Knowledge of food sanitation practices
- SERV Safe Certification
- Able to lift 40 lbs. comfortably
