About the Role
The Cook is responsible for preparing menu items utilizing cooking equipment in a fast-paced environment. The Cook must adhere to high food quality standards to ensure guest satisfaction. Portion control, food waste, and sanitation are additional areas that the Cook must be aware of while operating in the kitchen. This position requires someone with a passion for the culinary arts, attention to detail, and commitment to upholding the highest standards. As a Cook at SoFi Center, you will prepare and execute dishes to the highest quality, contributing to an impeccable dining experience for guests. Cooks will often have direct contact with the public, working in areas such as a buffet line slicing meats or preparing dishes to order.
This role pays an hourly rate of $24.00 - $27.00.
About The Venue
Oak View Group is the venue manager and food and beverage provider of the SoFi Center, a first-of-its-kind venue located in Palm Beach Gardens on the campus of Palm Beach State College. TGL presented by SoFi is a new golf league, combining advanced technology with teams of top players from the PGA TOUR for two-hour weekly competitions in prime time. Seven TGL teams representing seven different cities compete in a season-long competition at SoFi Center. Matches air on ESPN and the ESPN app in the U.S., offering unprecedented access to the competition for golf fans.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Executive Chef and culinary team to develop and execute seasonal and specialty dishes that align with our standards.
- Ensure food preparation and presentation meet high-end aesthetic and taste standards.
- Consult with Stand Lead/Catering Supervisors and Concessions Supervisors to plan menus and estimate expected food consumption.
- Monitor food inventory and assist in ingredient ordering, ensuring freshness and quality of ingredients.
- Follow recipes precisely and adjust according to guests’ dietary requirements or special requests.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations, especially during peak hours.
- Cook and package food products, prepared to order or kept warm until sold.
- Receive verbal orders from front counter staff for food product requirements for guest orders.
- Maintain quality and production standards on all menu items; food must be fresh and of high quality when served.
- Ensure portion control and proper serving temperatures of all products served.
- Clean, stock, and restock workstations and displays.
- Operate large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers, and ovens.
- Ensure all work areas and equipment are clean, food products are properly stored, utensils are clean and put away, and the floor is swept and mopped at the end of the shift.
- Check out with the Kitchen Supervisor before ending the shift.
- Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.
- Demonstrate ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience in a fast-paced, event catering role preferred.
- High School Diploma, G.E.D., or related food service experience preferred.
- Able to operate standard kitchen equipment, including deep fryer, flattop grill, chargrill, broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, meat slicer, and chef knife.
- Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff, and guests to foster a positive, enthusiastic, and cooperative work environment.
- Must be able to push, lift, pull, climb, stoop, and kneel to handle equipment, food products, supplies, and move tables and chairs.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
- Possess a valid ServSafe food handling certificate.
