About the role
This position is located at the Peak but may fill other vacancies in the Business Recreation Division.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and cooks breakfast and lunch menus, including items such as eggs, pancakes, hamburgers, and vegetables.
- Makes soups, sauces, and sandwich fillings from scratch.
- Executes precise food preparation by peeling, chopping, dicing, and breading ingredients; accurately weighs, measures, and assembles components for both regular and modified recipes.
- Operates, disassembles, and cleans a variety of professional kitchen equipment, following all safety and sanitation procedures.
- Maintains impeccable kitchen hygiene by cleaning all work areas, surfaces, and equipment after each use, and ensuring food safety by storing items at correct temperatures.
Requirements
- One-year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
- Must be willing to accept intermittent, on-call employment.
- Physical examination, arranged by the employer, is required prior to employment.
- If a Common Access Card is required for installation, facility, or network access, a favorably adjudicated T1/NACI background investigation will be required.
Qualifications
- A qualified candidate must possess the following:
- Experience working in a cafeteria, restaurant, or mess performing the following duties:
- Preparing and cooking simple foods and short orders,
- Storing foods to prevent spoiling,
- Operating, assembling, disassembling, cleaning, and properly sanitizing a variety of kitchen equipment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, particularly standard recipes, and detailed cooking instructions,
- Ability to operate, disassemble, and clean basic food service equipment such as griddles, broilers, and food grinders,
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic (e.g., add, subtract, multiply etc...) to measure ingredients in a recipe.
Education
This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
Pay
This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours a day or more than 40 hours a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. This is NOT a regularly scheduled Flexible position as it has no guaranteed hours. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours fall after 3:00 PM.
Schedule
Work schedule will be irregular. The incumbent will be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and/or unique events.
