About the role
A 9-month (paid 12-months), non-exempt, position responsible for routine and advanced food service work in the kitchens and dining rooms of the School.
Responsibilities
- Prepares parts of a major meal such as entrees, vegetables, salad or dessert, in proper quantities for serving;
- Mixes, seasons, garnishes, and otherwise prepares the dish;
- Assists in the preparation of several parts of a meal by mixing, stirring, chopping, ladling, adjusting heat, etc.;
- Serves food to students and school employees by dishing food or preparing portions as needed;
- Keeps simple daily records;
- Maintains sanitary conditions in the kitchen, dining areas, preparation and storage areas by participating in the cleaning of dishes, stoves, cookers, kettles, pots and pans, refrigerators, food grinders and mixers, work tables, carts, floors and other kitchen and dining room utensils and surfaces;
- Secures the proper supplies for the kitchen stores and records the quantities used on the proper forms provided;
- Ability to follow assigned daily work schedule;
- Demonstrate effective safety skills with students, equipment, environment, ect;
- Prepares food items for all student activities and special occasions held at the school;
- Lift and move up to 50lbs;
- Ability to reach the recommended American Sign Language competency level of Novice;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationship with students, staff and fellow employees;
- Ability to work long hours while standing and under conditions of high temperature;
- Personal cleanliness and freedom from communicable diseases;
- Ability to obtain and maintain Callaway County Food Handlers Card.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalency required;
- Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in preparing food on a large scale and the use and care of utensils and equipment;
- Working knowledge of food values and nutrition;
- Working knowledge of food and physical plant sanitation.

$29,280 annually (based on working 209 school days)
