About the role
The Cook II is responsible for preparing and cooking meals in the Mission’s Centralized Kitchen and ensuring that the prep and cooking areas, pantries, freezer, and fridges, are clean and organized and adhere to all food safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Scheduled: Monday - Friday; 7:00AM – 3:30PM
- Receive meals from the central kitchen and prepare them for lunch and dinner service.
- Prepare weekend meals for all program locations.
- Plan and prepare breakfast meals.
- Ability to work between various program locations.
- Able to work between various program locations.
- Ensure that kitchen workers are adhering to health and safety requirements.
- Ensure that dishes, cookware, and utensils are cleaned and sanitized properly.
- Assist with the unloading and proper storage of weekly deliveries.
- Meet with Manager weekly.
- Attend staff meetings as scheduled.
- Work with CM and support service manager to schedule and facilitate work therapy for the guests.
- Attend & participate in all Mission, Division, and Department meetings and training, as required.
- Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Culinary degree or certification is strongly preferred.
- 3 or more years of experience in a food service or commercial kitchen environment.
- Prior experience in a non-profit setting highly preferred.
- Valid Serve Safe Certificate.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License and be able to meet the standards of the Mission driver criteria required, including but not limited to:
- Clean driving record.
- Have a License for at least one year.
- No current suspensions or revocations.
- At least 21 years of age.

- Effectively represents Jesus Christ to a diverse audience, including our Mission teams, our volunteers, guests and homeless neighbors.

$21.89 Hourly to $30.65 Hourly
