About the role

Under supervision, prepares and cooks food. Schedules: Full-time, 36 hours per week, weekends and holidays required. No late-night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Reviews menus daily to determine quantities of food and supplies needed.
• Prepares food for cafeteria, patient food service and catering using creativity, quality, consistency, and promptness.
• Follows and complies with recipe standards.
• Maintains cleanliness and ensures food is handled and stored to Hazardous Analysis of Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines.
• Operates various types of kitchen equipment and maintains cleanliness.
• Records temperatures of refrigerators.
• Ensures equipment is in good working condition.
• Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum 6 months experience in food preparation, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Preferred high school diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year food service experience in a healthcare facility, such as health care food service.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of food allergies and dietary restrictions.
• Ability to follow a recipe and scale.
• Interacts with others by effectively communicating, both orally and in writing.
• Operates computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
• Sight and reading ability to perform tasks involving computer monitors and documents.
• Physical ability to remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.
• May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling, and reaching.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
$18.91 - $26.58
