About The Role The Cook I position is essential in delivering high-quality food preparation and cooking services within a retail trade environment. This role focuses on preparing ingredients, following standardized recipes, and ensuring food safety and sanitation standards are consistently met. The Cook I will contribute to a positive customer experience by producing meals that meet company quality and presentation standards. This position requires collaboration with kitchen staff to maintain efficient workflow and timely food service. Ultimately, the Cook I supports the overall success of the food service operation by maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment while preparing delicious and appealing menu items. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent.Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.Ability to follow recipes and food safety guidelines accurately.Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.Legal authorization to work in the United States. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working in a food service or retail trade kitchen environment.Certification in food safety or ServSafe credential.Familiarity with inventory management and kitchen equipment operation.Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.Flexibility to work various schools in D56 (All in Gurnee)Valid Driver's License with clean driving record Responsibilities Prepare and cook food items according to established recipes and quality standards.Ensure all food preparation and cooking processes comply with health and safety regulations.Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including equipment and workstations.Assist in receiving and storing food supplies, ensuring proper rotation and storage conditions.Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals and accommodate special dietary requests.You may be asked to drive the food truck from cooking site to the satellite schools for breakfast and lunch Skills The required skills such as basic cooking techniques and food safety knowledge are applied daily to prepare meals that meet quality and hygiene standards. Attention to detail ensures recipes are followed precisely, contributing to consistent food taste and presentation. Physical stamina and time management skills help maintain productivity during busy service periods. Preferred skills like food safety certification enhance the ability to uphold regulatory compliance and promote a safe kitchen environment. Effective communication and teamwork skills facilitate smooth coordination with colleagues, ensuring efficient kitchen operations and excellent customer service. Approx. 6:30-2pm Monday - Friday
