About the role

The Cook I position is an entry-level culinary role focused on learning kitchen fundamentals, maintaining consistency, and supporting daily kitchen operations under direct supervision. Team members in this role are expected to follow recipes, portion standards, food safety procedures, and kitchen cleanliness expectations while developing foundational cooking skills.

Responsibilities

• Execute basic food preparation and simple menu items according to established recipes and standards
• Maintain consistency in portioning, plating, and product quality
• Assist with station setup, stocking, and breakdown procedures
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department guidelines
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, coolers, and storage areas
• Properly label, date, and rotate products using FIFO procedures
• Learn and apply proper knife skills and basic cooking techniques
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members
• Complete assigned prep lists and side work efficiently
• Assist other stations as needed during peak business periods

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must be 18+ years old and available for all shifts, including weekends and holidays
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and pass a drug test and background check for an AZ Gaming License
• Must adhere to all Cliff Castle Casino Hotel policies and procedures
• Basic understanding of kitchen operations and food safety
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Willingness to learn and accept coaching
• Basic knife handling and kitchen equipment knowledge
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
