About the role

The Cook is responsible for preparing recipes and food items in accordance with the Executive Chef’s requirements. Essential Job Functions include:

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, sauté, broil, fry, bake and grill food items in accordance to kitchen needs.
  • Operate grill, fryer, broiler, oven and French top in accordance with kitchen needs.
  • Perform preliminary preparation work in a timely manner.
  • Ensure ingredient supply levels are accurate.
  • Maintain the required par of food items in their assigned station from support areas throughout the property.
  • Maintain a sanitary and organized work area.
  • Understand and adhere to proper safety and health codes and regulations.
  • Ensure all areas assigned are clean and free of debris.
  • Demonstrate proper care, storage, use and cleaning of all tools and equipment.
  • Demonstrate competent product knowledge by correctly storing and handling of all perishables, maintaining quality, security, value and integrity.
  • Prepare food products according to standard recipes and specifications.
  • Communicate effectively with other team members, including service and kitchen maintenance personnel.
  • Aid with any other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Effective communication in English, both verbal and written, in a professional manner.
  • Minimum of one year experience as a cook.
  • Ability to work from a standing position for extended periods of time.
  • Neat appearance with good personal hygiene.

Physical, Mental And Environmental Demands

  • Loud, fast-paced environment with multiple tasks to be handled under time constraints.
  • Direct public contact for front-line buffet cooks.
  • Standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting and reaching throughout the shift.
  • Handling a heavy business volume in a timely manner.
  • Pushing carts up to 70lbs, lifting full pots up to 100lbs, repetitive stirring, extreme hot and cold work conditions, and bending at the waist.
