About the Role

Serves as an assistant to the Food Services department, supporting daily operations to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient environment for food preparation, storage, and service.

Responsibilities

  • Keeps all equipment used in the preparation, storage, and serving of food in sanitary condition.
  • Maintains cleanliness and order in storerooms, walk-in refrigerators, and freezers.
  • Sets up the dish room and dishwashing machine before each meal.
  • Washes worktables, walls, refrigerators, and meat blocks.
  • Scrapes food from dirty dishes and places them in racks or on the conveyor to the dishwashing machine.
  • Washes pots, pans, and trays.
  • Sweeps, mops, and waxes cafeteria and kitchen floors.
  • Removes trash and garbage, placing it in designated containers.
  • Steam cleans or hoses out garbage cans.
  • Sets up dining room tables.
  • Keeps the service line supplied with dishes, silverware, glasses, milk, food, etc., during service times.
  • Prepares and serves food as requested, in accordance with pre-planned menus.
  • Clearly communicates and consistently models appropriate CSS and employability skills.
  • Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property.
  • Adheres to safety practices in all areas of responsibility.
  • Fosters and sustains a conducive, harassment-free environment at the center, ensuring a safe space for both staff and students.
  • Attends all required staff training opportunities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Six months of related experience preferred.
  • Experience working with youth.
  • A valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
