COOK, Full Time, Part Time or Per Diem
About the Role
Northern Nevada Medical Center is a 124-bed acute care hospital located on 23 hillside acres in Sparks, Nevada. This Cook position is available on a Full Time, Part Time, or Per Diem basis. Under the direct supervision of the Food & Nutrition Services Director, Supervisor, or Lead, the cook performs a variety of patient food service and dish duties, preparing appropriate food items for hospital patients, staff, and visitors according to recipes.
Responsibilities
- Determines types and quantities of all foods to be prepared by reviewing planned menus and printed tallies.
- Identifies foods, supplies, and equipment that are low in supply and communicates needs to the Director/Supervisor; assists in storing delivered items in designated areas.
- Ensures meals are ready at specified times and consults with director/supervisor regarding use of leftover food.
- Prepares all foods according to approved recipes and to suitable appearance standards, using garnishes when appropriate.
Requirements
- One to three (1-3) years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- ServSafe Certification preferred within 6 months of hire.
