About the Role
Windmoor Healthcare of Clearwater is a freestanding, full service 144-bed psychiatric hospital specializing in successful treatment of acute psychiatric and substance abuse services for adults 18 years and older. Located in beautiful, picturesque Clearwater, Florida, the hospital is conveniently located and accessible 24 hours/day for admissions. Treatment programs and specialty services include substance abuse, dual diagnosis / rapid stabilization, 24-hour mental health assessment and partial hospitalization.
Responsibilities
- Properly and safely prepare and cook food for patients and staff according to the menu and recipes provided by the Dietician
- Assist in recipe development
- Maintain high food and service quality
- Work with Facility Director/Manager regarding appropriate usage of leftovers, menu changes and substitutions
- Assist Director in preparation of special employee and/or catering functions
- Follow all standardized procedures and maintain a safe and sanitized work area
- Effectively and safely utilize kitchen tools, appliances and equipment
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent OR relative work experience
- Two (2) years' cooking experience required with prior experience as a cook in a fast paced setting
- Industrial food preparation experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of modified diets, serving principles and training in food services sanitation needed
- Safe Serve certification preferred
- Prior kitchen supervisory experience preferred
- Must be able to prioritize workload and effectively multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Excellent food preparation and presentation skills
- Able to effectively communicate, prioritize tasks and demonstrate flexibility, with strong focus on safety and quality
Physical Requirements
- Move efficiently enough to meet the needs of several patients and/or move rapidly to provide timely intervention of patient aggression
- Able to stand, sit or walk during work shift
- Able to hear spoken words in a normal vocal range, respond to signals, alarms, codes or other displays
- Recognize vocal intonation that signal changes in acuity
- Able to bend, reach and stoop
- Able to accurately follow instructions and convey information
- Able to read instructions and complete any needed documentation and/or reports
- Perform duties requiring manual dexterity
- Able to lift up to 30 lbs
