Overview
University Retirement Community, Davis’ premier upscale senior living community, is seeking an experienced Cooks to join our team of culinary professionals. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of cooking experience.
Responsibilities
- Create amazing food for our fine-dining restaurant, upscale casual Bistro, catering services, and other areas of our culinary program.
- Ensure adherence to high standards of food quality and presentation.
- Work closely with the Executive Chef to develop and implement new menu items.
- Manage inventory and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen area.
- Train and mentor less experienced staff members.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of professional cooking experience.
- Valid Food Handlers card.
- Preferred: ServSafe Food Safety Manager certificate.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and ingredients.
- Ability to follow recipes and prepare dishes accurately.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with residents and colleagues.
- Positive attitude and ability to work well in a team environment.
Skills
- Proficiency in multiple cooking methods (e.g., grilling, sautéing, baking).
- Knowledge of portion control and cost management.
- Ability to adapt to changing schedules and priorities.

Pay
Compensation range: $17.00 - $20.91 per hour, DOE (Based on experience and qualifications).
Schedule
Hours vary based on department needs and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
