About the role
The Cook supports the delivery of a high-quality, safe and resident-centred dining experience by preparing and presenting meals that meet organisational standards, dietary needs and resident preferences. The role works under the direction of the Home Services Lead and collaboratively with the Chef to ensure meals are enjoyable, consistent and contribute to resident dignity, wellbeing and comfort.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and serve meals in line with corporate menus, recipes and dietary requirements
- Ensure all meals meet IDDSI, allergen, cultural and texture-modified needs
- Deliver meals that are well-presented, appetising and served at the correct temperature
- Support food preparation, portioning, plating and kitchen operations
- Follow safe food handling, hygiene and infection control standards
- Complete documentation including temperature checks, cleaning logs and production records
- Identify and report hazards, incidents or equipment faults
Requirements
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent experience)
- Food safety knowledge and safe food handling practices
- Understanding of special diets, allergens and IDDSI requirements
- Ability to work effectively in a team and follow direction
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to resident-centred care and positive dining experiences
- Basic computer and documentation skills
- Experience in aged care or healthcare food service (highly regarded)
Qualifications

Pay
$30.40 per hour + Super + Not for Profit Salary Packaging + Penalties & Allowances
Schedule
Shifts can start as early as 6am and may include weekend work
