Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals, soups, side dishes, desserts, and beverages according to planned menus and physician-ordered therapeutic diets.
- Ensure meals are prepared and served according to established recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards.
- Monitor food temperatures throughout preparation, cooking, and service to ensure food safety compliance.
- Prepare food in accordance with all food handling, sanitation, infection prevention, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with meal service to ensure residents receive meals accurately and on time.
- Properly label, store, rotate, and dispose of food items using safe food handling practices.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, including cooking equipment, food preparation areas, dishes, utensils, and workstations.
- Assist with receiving, stocking, rotating, and organizing food and kitchen supplies.
- Work collaboratively with the Dietary Manager and dietary team to provide exceptional dining experiences for residents.
- Follow all facility policies and procedures while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience as a Cook in a healthcare, long-term care, restaurant, or commercial kitchen environment preferred.
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets, food safety, and sanitation practices preferred.
- ServSafe certification is a plus, but not required.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Strong teamwork, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Commitment to providing high-quality meals and outstanding service to residents.
