About the role

Full-time Cook position at Sunnyside Campus Main Dining in Harrisonburg, VA. Located at 3935 Sunnyside Drive, Harrisonburg, VA 22801. Sunnyside is a not-for-profit Senior Living life plan community on 150+ acres serving over 500 residents with Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Support, and Long-Term Care.

Responsibilities

• Prepare a variety of high-quality foods, follow recipes, adhere to timelines for meals.
• Maintain all sanitation codes.
• Prepare and deliver meals to Healthcare and Assisted Living residents.
• Keep all food preparation and service areas clean and sanitized.
• Work at special functions as assigned.
• Report to work as scheduled, ready to work.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Read and review instructions and information on break-down sheets, labels and diet information cards; including food preparation requirements, portion sizes and resident preferences, allergies, etc.
• Ensure food is ready to serve at resident meal times at proper temperature and as requested.
• Demonstrate dependability, reliability and punctuality.

Qualifications

• Prior cooking experience in a restaurant/dining field preferred.
• Serve Safe Certification or ability to obtain.
• Ability to process information accurately, make appropriate decisions, and take appropriate action.
• Ability to read and interpret recipes, double/triple for quantity needed.
• Time management skills; ability to meet deadlines.
• Multi-tasking skills; handle prep work, various timelines, recipes, delivery schedules.
• Strong verbal communication skills; appropriate grammar.
• Strong customer service skills; maintain hospitality approach.

$16 - $20 per hour

Full-time, 10 am‑6:30 pm; every other weekend
