Job Responsibilities
- Safely handles and stores food according to guidelines.
- Completes daily Quick Check reviews and records temperatures.
- Corrects or addresses issues related to food temperatures and expiration.
- Discards expired or contaminated food items appropriately.
- Wears required protective wear and follows infection control policies.
- Prepares food using standardized recipes and special diet requirements.
- Ensures timely and correct meal production and portion control.
- Pulls, thaws, and preps foods in advance of production.
- Serves meals according to facility methods and guidelines.
- Cleans and sanitizes kitchen and equipment daily and after use.
- Stores, chills, and reheats leftovers for later use.
- Uses 3-compartment sink and cleans cooking pots and pans.
- Assists other department staff as needed.
- Ensures proper closure of the kitchen in accordance with policy.
Job Requirements
- One year experience as a cook in a hotel, restaurant, hospital, or similar institution.
- Food handlers' card or Food Safety Certification as required by local ordinance.
- Understanding of sanitation, cleanliness, and personal hygiene.
- Ability to communicate tactfully with various stakeholders.
- Regular, predictable, and dependable attendance.
