About the role
Saint Mary's Behavioral Health Center (SMBHC), LLC is an evidence-based, client-centered residential treatment program serving adolescents ages 11–17, and up to 19 years of age. Our clients may present with a wide range of behavioral health needs, including self-harm, aggression, suicidal ideation, substance use, trauma, mood instability, and anxiety. We provide care in a warm, structured environment that meets clients where they are and supports them in becoming "the great person they were always meant to be."
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus and dietary guidelines
- Accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, and meal modifications as directed
- Assist with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack preparation
- Ensure meals are served in a timely and professional manner
- Maintain quality, consistency, and proper portion control
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures
- Monitor and document food, refrigerator, and freezer temperatures
- Properly store food and rotate inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed
- Report maintenance or equipment concerns promptly
- Work collaboratively with the Head Chef and treatment team
- Maintain professionalism and appropriate boundaries with adolescent clients
- Follow all facility policies, state regulations, and health department requirements
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Previous experience in food service, commercial kitchens, healthcare, or residential settings preferred
- Food Handler's Certification preferred (or ability to obtain after hire)
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
