Responsibilities
- Prepare meals according to planned menus, standardized recipes, and special diet orders
- Ensure meals are prepared and served on time and in appropriate portions
- Prepare food for therapeutic and special diets as directed
- Review menus and diet changes prior to meal preparation
- Auxiliary with meal service, substitutions, and special events as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, equipment, and food storage areas
- Follow infection control, food safety, and sanitation standards
- Monitor food supplies and report needs to Food Services Director
- Complete required documentation and reports
- Adhere to HIPAA and resident confidentiality requirements
Qualifications
- Prior cooking experience preferred, healthcare or long-term care experience a plus
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to prepare food in large quantities
- Ability to follow menus, recipes, and dietary instructions
- Dependable, organized, and team-oriented
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
Physical Requirements
- Standing for extended periods
- Lifting, bending, and moving kitchen equipment and supplies
- Moving around in warm kitchen environments
- Exposure to food service equipment and cleaning chemicals
