About the role

North Cascades Health and Rehabilitation Center is currently looking for a Cook to join our dietary department. We believe breakfast, lunch and dinner should be healthy, delicious and fun. Our enhanced dining program provides culinary excellence.

Part‑time, weekends only: Saturday and Sunday, 5:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Location: 4680 Cordata Parkway, Bellingham, WA 98226.

Responsibilities

• Prepare pre‑planned cycle menus in an efficient and effective manner
• Perform food preparation tasks as assigned
• Read production orders on tray cards
• Determine if the food prepared is of the highest possible quality in taste and flavor
• Assist in planning cooking schedules
• Confirm foods are ready on time for tray service
• Maintain and improve standards of food storage, preparation, and services
• Assist in checking food supplies on food order forms
• Push carts to halls or kitchen
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness

Requirements

• Current Food Handlers card (or ability to obtain one) issued by local Health Department
• Prior cooking experience in a skilled nursing environment (preferred)

Skills

• Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, hygienic methods of food preparation and storage
• Interpersonal skills
• Competency in operating kitchen equipment
• Ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting (50‑pound maximum), bending, reaching, and stooping
