About the Role

This position assists in the production of attractive, palatable, and therapeutically correct foods for patients and employees, while also supporting the preparation and execution of all special food functions.

Responsibilities

• Obtains needed supplies from storeroom, freezer, etc. to complete daily assignments.
• Ensures standardized recipes are used in preparation of all menu items.
• Inspects and tastes food for quality, presentation, and adherence to menu.
• Works closely with the chef/senior cook in preparation and blast chilling of foods.
• Prepares foods for special functions.
• Assists with inventory and projected orders, prepares and places food and supply orders as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Two years culinary school or training preferred.
• At least two years of quantity cooking experience in a hotel, restaurant, or hospital preferred.
• Previous supervisory experience in therapeutic cooking preferred.
• Basic command of English language (speaking, reading, writing) and basic math skills required to ensure correct performance in duties, understanding and following instructions, dietary restrictions, etc. for patient, resident, and employee safety.
• Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team and customers.
• Must be able to adapt to circumstances that arise and be able to make decisions quickly to problem solve any issues that may develop.

Pay

Compensation Range: $19.50 - $31.20 per hour
