Patti Finnegan’s Pub & Grille is seeking part-time line and banquet cooks.
About the role
We are a fast-paced, high-energy environment serving over 800 affiliate members, various departments of Oakland University, and the general public. The ideal candidate is hardworking, reliable, organized, creative, and passionate about food and hospitality. This position can be a full-time or part-time seasonal position with flexible scheduling including days, evenings, weekends, and some public holidays.
Responsibilities
- Aid in completing daily and weekly prep and cleaning lists
- Label and stock all ingredients on shelves for easy access
- Measure ingredients and seasonings for cooking
- Prepare ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc.
- Perform basic cooking duties such as knife work, searing, grilling, blanching, reducing sauces, etc.
- Prepare simple dishes like cold and hot sandwiches, salads, burgers, seafood, etc.
- Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, cleaning, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash, etc.
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly according to health department regulations
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned by Chef, Sous Chef, or other management
Requirements
- Minimum of one year experience cooking
- Experience in different styles - from traditional classics to grill sandwiches and homemade soups
- Proven experience as a Grill and/or sauté cook
- Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.)
- Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
- Very good communication skills
- Manual dexterity to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
- Team player with good communication skills
- Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
- Very good physical condition and endurance
Skills
- Proven experience as a prep cook, but willing to train
- Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
- Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
- Very good physical condition and endurance
- Manual dexterity to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
