• Shifts vary: 5AM–1:30PM or 10:30AM–7PM
• Every other weekend 10:30AM–7PM required

About the role

Join Hartford HealthCare’s Food and Nutrition Department at Mulberry Gardens, where we provide restaurant-style service to residents in our assisted-living and early memory-loss community. Meals are prepared and served three times daily in one of our five dining rooms. We use teamwork and strong customer-service skills to deliver the highest quality of life for our residents.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food according to selected menus, approved recipes, and production sheets with knowledge of quantity cooking.
• Complete preparation of all food items in a timely manner and ensure all foods meet required serving temperatures.
• Utilize creativity in garnishing, decorating, and developing new recipes.
• Comply with stringent health, sanitation, safety, HACCP, and food-handling standards.
• Adhere to quality and cost-containment standards.
• Report to the appropriate Food Services Manager.

Requirements

• One year of cooking experience or three years of directly related food-service experience.
• Ability to read, write, understand, and speak English.
• Basic math skills for recipe-quantity calculations and adjusting quantities based on census or volume.
• Writing skills for completing production records and documenting logs and other reports.
