Cook Assistant
About the Role
Under the direction and guidance of the Cook or Center Service Manager, the Cook Aide is responsible for assisting with the provision of Early Childhood Development (ECD) center-based food services including food preparation, service, and clean-up activities. Ensures the center follows all appropriate local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to the Food Services component, including USDA guidelines. Promotes school readiness by preparing children and families for school and life success as it relates to this position.
Actively supervise children by sight and sound at all times and in all environments. Maintain all health and safety regulations to create an optimum learning environment. Facilitate health practices to keep children safe in the school bus, outdoor, and indoor environments.
Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation, service, and clean-up activities in ECD center-based food services.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including USDA guidelines.
- Actively supervise children by sight and sound in all environments.
- Maintain health and safety regulations to support a safe learning environment.
- Facilitate health practices to ensure child safety in various settings (school bus, outdoor, indoor).
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- One year of experience assisting with food preparation, inventory, and purchasing in educational or institutional programs preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and ECD staff.
