Job Purpose
To ensure high standard of nutrition, efficiency, cleanliness and friendliness in the implementation of food services.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists in the preparation and serving of all food in the cafeteria and community as required.
- Assumes responsibility for seeing to it that during meal service periods the supply of food offered is replenished regularly.
- Assists in the daily cleaning of kitchen, serving, storage and dining areas.
- Assists in supervising the work of the cafeteria employees.
- Assists in instructing new cafeteria employees in performing their assigned tasks.
- Assumes responsibility for Head Cook duties during absence of Head Cook.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in food service
- Interest in and understanding of children and adolescents

- Possess good communication skills and the ability to work harmoniously with staff, students and parents.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, willingness to learn, focus on excellent customer service.
- Collaboration with others.
Language Skills
- Ability to read and interpret written language.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of students or employees or organizations.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions and percentages.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, communicate and talk or hear.
- The employee frequently is required to walk, use fingers, tools or controls.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
Work Environment
- The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
- The employee is continuously required to meet deadlines with severe time constraints, interact with the public and other staff, work irregular or extended work hours.
