About the role

Whether your passion is fine dining, made-to-order cooking, or cafeteria-style food service, there’s a place for your culinary skills at Messiah Lifeways! With four unique dining venues across our campus, our cooks prepare everything from restaurant-quality meals to fresh, made-to-order dishes and nutritious meals served in our healthcare and cafeteria settings. Every meal you prepare helps create a memorable dining experience for the older adults we serve.

Schedule

• 8-hour shifts scheduled between 5:00 AM and 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend
• Holidays as scheduled

Responsibilities

• Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner service
• Set up and organize workstation before meal service
• Cook menu items according to standardized recipes and quality standards
• Prepare ingredients and plan for upcoming meal periods
• Maintain proper food labeling, dating, rotation, and storage
• Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures
• Safely operate commercial kitchen equipment
• Communicate inventory needs and product concerns with the Chef on Duty
• Complete cleaning and closing duties
• Work collaboratively with fellow cooks and dining team members to provide an exceptional dining experience

Qualifications

• Graduate of culinary school or have 1 to 2 years cooking experience in a healthcare setting, restaurant, or dining facility
• Candidates will be hired at the appropriate level within the career ladder, based on their experience and education

• Strong attention to detail and food safety practices
• Dependability and adaptability to a variety of kitchen settings
• Previous cooking experience in a restaurant, healthcare, senior living, hotel, or institutional setting is preferred but not required
