Cook 1-Humboldt

Tennessee State University is accepting applications for a cook position at a center-based Early Head Start program serving infants and toddlers in Henry, Gibson, and Weakley Counties.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals, snacks, and other food items.
• Handle all food inventory and nutrition-related paperwork.
• Ensure the welfare, health, and safety of all children.
• Maintain proper hygiene in food preparation.
• Prepare food in compliance with approved menus provided by a Registered Dietitian.
• Request pre-approval for menu changes from the Health Coordinator before preparing.
• Ensure all meals meet USDA requirements in size and content.
• Maintain an accessible file for children with food allergies.
• Keep inventory of nutritional supplies and submit reports to the Health Coordinator monthly.
• Maintain cleanliness of food preparation equipment, countertops, stove, refrigerator, and garbage cans.
• Perform occasional duties such as cleaning toys, relieving staff for breaks, and maintaining kitchen sanitation.
• Maintain communication with supervisor and parents.
• Complete First Aid and Infant CPR training as scheduled.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Completion of a minimum of the eighth grade.
• Experience in food preparation and nutrition management services.
• Must meet all required health and safety requirements (e.g., physical, TB skin test, safe food handling, USDA requirements).
• Knowledge of food safety regulations desired.
• Must possess a valid Tennessee driver’s license.

Pay

$32,760–$39,312 per year, paid semi-monthly.

Schedule

• Full-time (40 hours per week).
• Monday–Friday.
• Fiscal year (12 months).
