The role serves as a critical partner to the Head of Engineering and leadership team, helping define direction, improve organizational effectiveness, and ensure the engineering franchise operates with clarity, discipline, and scale.

The person in this role is accountable for translating Engineering's priorities into execution through strong operating rhythms, governance, analytics, enablement, and cross-functional coordination. The role combines enterprise strategy, transformation leadership, and business operations accountability, ensuring Engineering is positioned to deliver against business priorities while continuously improving how it operates, develops talent, adopts technology, and drives engineering excellence.

This includes leading the Engineering Hub's broad mandate across engineering strategy, leadership enablement, analytics and insights, digitalization, AI-for-Engineering adoption, engineering learning, communications, talent and location strategy execution, and strategic technology partnerships. The role is central to building the operating model, management discipline, and enterprise connectivity needed to scale a more effective, data-driven, and forward-looking Engineering organization.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Head of Engineering and leadership team, helping shape priorities, improve focus, and strengthen organizational effectiveness.
  • Define and drive the strategic direction for Engineering across BNY, translating business needs into clear priorities, measurable goals, and execution plans.
  • Lead the Engineering 2.0 transformation agenda, including strategic planning, governance, execution oversight, and progress reporting.
  • Establish and run leadership team rhythms, including strategic planning processes, agenda-setting, decision tracking, follow-through, and management routines that improve execution discipline.
  • Improve the Engineering operating model by clarifying priorities, decision rights, accountability, and cross-functional interfaces across teams.
  • Oversee enterprise engineering strategy, analytics, and insight generation to improve transparency, decision-making, prioritization, and performance management.
  • Advance digitalization and process improvement across Engineering to simplify workflows, improve execution, and strengthen internal effectiveness.
  • Drive AI-for-Engineering adoption and other strategic enablement efforts that improve productivity, insight, and delivery outcomes across the engineering organization.
  • Strengthen the Engineering Practice through guardrails, frameworks, standards, learning, communications, and community-building that promote consistency and engineering excellence.
  • Lead engineering talent and location strategy execution in partnership with senior stakeholders across Engineering, People, and the broader enterprise.
  • Manage strategic technology partnerships and the broader partner ecosystem to accelerate delivery, improve outcomes, and optimize value realization.
  • Partner with CIOs, Engineering leaders, ESO, SPIN, AI Hub, Finance, People, Enterprise Sourcing, and other key stakeholders to align Engineering priorities with enterprise needs.
  • Support the broader Engineering franchise through scalable capabilities across business management, workforce management, vendor management, engineering finance, processes and tooling, discipline learning, and organizational enablement.
  • Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, transparency, innovation, and continuous improvement across the Engineering organization.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will bring significant experience leading enterprise technology strategy, engineering transformation, business operations, or chief of staff / COO-style leadership functions within a complex organization. They will be equally comfortable operating at the strategic and execution levels, advising senior leaders, driving cross-functional alignment, improving management discipline, and building scalable capabilities that strengthen organizational performance.

This is a high-impact enterprise leadership role for an executive who can help shape Engineering's long-term direction, strengthen the leadership operating model, improve execution and organizational effectiveness, and build the capabilities, partnerships, and management discipline required for a modern engineering organization to perform at scale.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive compensation, benefits, and wellbeing programs rooted in a strong culture of excellence and our pay-for-performance philosophy.
  • Access to flexible global resources and tools for your life's journey.
  • Focus on your health, foster your personal resilience, and reach your financial goals as a valued member of our team.
