Georgia-Pacific Consumer Manufacturing Group is seeking a Converting Technical Leader to support the Consumer Products Group Operations located in Halsey, OR.

About the Location

The Halsey Mill is located in Willamette Valley and is centrally located near the beach and mountains with several forms of outdoor recreational activities. The Halsey Mill is roughly 30 minutes from the college towns of Corvallis and Eugene, and 90 miles south of Portland, OR, offering abundant options for regional attractions and entertainment.

Responsibilities

  • Embrace influential leadership to support the organization while advancing our Principle-Based Management (PBM) culture
  • Lead and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and quality in converting operations
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to identify and reduce waste
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the converting team, including troubleshooting equipment and process issues
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to ensure optimal machine performance
  • Lead and mentor a team of technicians and operators, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety
  • Conduct training sessions to enhance the skill set of the team
  • Oversee projects related to new equipment installation, upgrades, and process optimization
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and successful project completion
  • Work closely with quality assurance teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer expectations
  • Analyze production data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success and drive performance

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership in a manufacturing environment, including supervising and developing technical staff
  • Hands-on expertise in paper converting (tissue/towel) and solid knowledge of paper manufacturing processes, equipment, and industry standards
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including leading root-cause analysis (RCA) and resolving operational issues
  • Data-driven approach to operations: experience using production data, KPIs, and trend analysis to identify issues and drive corrective actions
  • Proven ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams to support production continuity and equipment reliability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, statistical tools, MES/SCADA reporting)
  • Demonstrated success leading equipment projects, capital initiatives, or cross-functional improvement teams
  • Experience applying continuous improvement methodologies (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma) and driving sustained improvements
  • Experience implementing and tracking process improvements using KPIs and project metrics
