About the role
The C-Store Manager oversees and coordinates activities of workers engaged in various retail operations including cash and credit card payments, record-keeping, and inventory management. This role involves direct supervision of employees, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and managing cash transactions.
Responsibilities
- Directly supervises employees in the Convenience Store
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures and applicable laws
- Maintain inventory, balance daily sales, balance all cash registers per shift
- Interview, hire, and train employees
- Plan, assign, and direct work
- Appraise performance, reward and discipline employees
- Address complaints and resolve problems
- Train and develop all new hires
- Verify cashiers daily paperwork to ensure balancing of each shift
- Make deposits to bank in a timely manner to ensure accuracy of daily sales reports
- Make change for cashiers as needed
- Ensure open/close of shifts are done in a timely manner according to policy
- Maintain inventory control
- Check all vendors deliveries to ensure invoice is correct
- Record daily transaction amounts from cash register to balance drawer
- Bags merchandise, issues receipts, and redeems promotional coupons
- Review price sheets to note price accuracy and changes on gas, deli, beer, liquor, or tobacco and all sale items
- Record prices and departments in an accurate manner on the register to ensure taxable items and totals are correct
- Stock and clean shelves, and mark prices on items
- Collect cash, check, or charge payment from customer, make change for cash transactions
- Count money in cash drawer at beginning and end of work shift to ensure money balances with sales
- Use the register to swipe all identification to sell tobacco, beer, liquor and lottery tickets to ensure of legal age to purchase
- Promote and ensure customer satisfaction on all purchases
- Greet all customers as they enter the store
- Maintain a positive attitude to ensure productive team work
- Perform cashiering and other clerical duties to relieve subordinates during breaks and busy periods
- Reconcile cash register totals with cash and receipts in register to verify accuracy of transactions
- Allocate and balance operating funds to cashiering stations
- Total and summarize funds received, balances and prepares bank deposit slip
- Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules, and expedites workflow
- Issue written and oral instructions
- Enforce disciplinary action where needed in a timely manner
- Evaluate employees according to company policy
- Assign duties and examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures
- Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of cashiers
- Maintain harmony among workers and resolves grievances
- Adjusts any errors and addresses complaints in a timely manner

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- One to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and comprehend the English language for simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to use cash register, 10-key calculator, count money, lottery machine, money orders, word, excel, payroll programs, scanner
- Regularly stand, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk to hear; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must maintain the following certifications and licenses: Alcohol Beverage ordinance Card (by Parish), Louisiana Responsible Vendors Permit, Valid State Identification card or driver’s license, Copy of Social Security Card
