About the role
We are seeking a skilled Controls Technician to support and maintain the electrical, automation, and control systems that keep our manufacturing operations running safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Install, upgrade, and troubleshoot electrical and controls systems for manufacturing equipment.
- Verify proper operation of control systems, electrical wiring, safety circuits, and machine interlocks.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, PLC, HMI, and machine control issues to minimize downtime.
- Modify, download, and maintain PLC and HMI programs while verifying functionality and documenting all changes.
- Create, update, and maintain electrical schematics, control drawings, and system documentation.
- Provide technical support for PLCs, HMIs, machine controls, MES, and related automation systems in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
- Partner with the MES team to:
- Maintain version control for PLC/HMI programs and electrical drawings.
- Identify automation, controls, and machine safety improvement opportunities.
- Maintain inventory levels for critical controls and electrical spare parts.
- Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to resolve equipment issues and implement system improvements.
- Perform preventive and routine maintenance on electrical and automation equipment.
- Troubleshoot industrial communication networks, including Ethernet/IP and other control networks.
- Configure and support network equipment, including ports, VLANs, and NAT, while coordinating with IT on network-related issues.
- Support and maintain maintenance laptops and programming equipment.
- Follow all company safety procedures, electrical standards, and risk assessment processes.
- Perform other electrical, controls, and automation-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience troubleshooting and programming PLCs, HMIs, and industrial control systems.
- Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems and machine controls.
- Experience with one or more of the following: Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Ignition, Wonderware, WinCC, or SQL databases.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Experience troubleshooting automation and electrical systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
- Technical degree, certificate, or vocational training in Electrical Technology, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
- Knowledge of industrial networking and machine safety systems.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $36.00-$40.00. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
