About the role

This role is an internship for a LONG Controls Technician. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 7am to 3:30pm with potential for overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in programming databases for all supported systems to meet specified sequences of operation and equipment manufacturer recommendations, in accordance with LONG standards and contract documents.
  • Assist with the installation of control system devices and wiring in accordance with LONG standards and contract documents.
  • Support the calibration and check-out of control systems and ensure that specified sequence of operations and commissioning obligations are met.
  • Assist the graphics coordinator and/or provide the labor and expertise for the preparation and delivery of graphical user interfaces when required for projects in accordance with LONG standards and contract documents.
  • Perform panel fabrication and light programming tasks.
  • Travel to job sites as needed.

Qualifications

  • At least 18 years old.
  • Strong analytical skills in solving software and integration challenges.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret mechanical plans and specifications.
  • Some working knowledge of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, control systems, building automation, electrical systems, energy management, engineering, installation, and construction procedures.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and willing to accept responsibility and accountability.
  • Excellent customer service and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of personnel including department managers, project managers, engineers, sales, and controls technicians.
  • Ability to legally drive a company vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrollment in a Building Automation Educational Program or similar field of study.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Climbing ladders or scaffolds.
  • Working in tight spaces.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Functioning at heights.
  • Inside and outside work environments.
  • Consistent state travel to jobsites.
  • Hazards such as high precarious places and general construction worksite hazards.
