About the role

This position performs highly technical work in the installation, setup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of moderately complex to complex building systems. The role involves both preventative and corrective controls assignments within the Campus Operations unit, supporting all University real property including buildings, infrastructure, and grounds.

Responsibilities

  • Install, set up, commission, troubleshoot, and maintain building systems, including Field Controller Networks (FCN), Air Handling Units (AHUs), terminal units (Variable Air Volume (VAV) and Constant Air Volume (CAV)), exhaust fans, chillers, boilers, pumps, compressors, energy recovery units, motor drives (VFD), and instrumentation.
  • Perform calibration of instrumentation and controls.
  • Work with various communications protocols such as BACnet, LonTalk, and Modbus.
  • Support SCADA systems, Ethernet, TCP-IP, and IP networks.
  • Operate and maintain systems using platforms like Carrier-iVue, Trane, Tridium, Johnson Controls, Schneider, or Siemens.
  • Participate in rotating on-call duties, including evenings and weekends as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • Candidates should be prepared to relocate within a reasonable daily commuting distance from Greenville, NC, after hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of the basic refrigeration process used in mechanical refrigeration and air conditioning systems, including terminology, safety, component identification, refrigeration cycle, and tools/instrumentation.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft products and computers.
  • Familiarity with networking applications and infrastructure.
  • Experience with Carrier-iVue, Trane, Tridium, Johnson Controls, Schneider, or Siemens systems.
  • NICET Industrial Instrumentation Level I Certification.

Pay

Recruitment range: $35,100 - $64,091 per year. Anticipated hiring range: $51,966 - $57,740 per year.

Schedule

  • Full-time position, 1.0 FTE.
  • Work schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., with rotating on-call duties including evenings and weekends as required.
