Controls Systems Specialist (BAS / HVAC Controls)
About the role
A California-based building automation and HVAC controls contractor that provides engineering, system integration, and energy management solutions to improve building performance, efficiency, and comfort.
Responsibilities
- Perform field verification and commissioning of BAS/DDC systems to ensure proper functionality and sequence of operations
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system, programming, and installation issues
- Collaborate with electricians, programmers, and engineers to correct field discrepancies
- Support system startup and ensure fully integrated building systems are operational
- Document findings, system changes, and improvements throughout the project lifecycle
- Provide customer support, training, and system guidance post-installation
- Assist with service calls (remote and onsite) and participate in on-call rotation
- Build deep working knowledge of system designs to support long-term service and optimization efforts
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with commercial/industrial HVAC controls or building automation systems
- Strong troubleshooting skills across controls, electronics, networking, and integrated systems
- Hands-on experience with BAS platforms such as: o Niagara (N4/AX), Distech, Alerton, or similar
- Familiarity with low voltage controls, system networking, and programming concepts
- Experience with tools like AutoCAD, Windows OS, and general software platforms
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in the field
